Level 2 charging, done right
A regular wall outlet (Level 1) adds only a few miles of range per hour. A Level 2 charger on a dedicated 240-volt circuit charges many times faster, enough to refill most cars overnight.
- Tesla Wall Connector and universal (J1772 / NACS) wall chargers, hardwired on a dedicated circuit.
- NEMA 14-50 outlets if you'd rather plug in a portable charger.
- Garage, carport and driveway installs, including outdoor-rated equipment for South Bay salt air.
- Two-car setups and power-sharing between chargers.
We check your panel first
The most common surprise with EV chargers isn't the charger, it's the panel. Many older South Bay homes still have 100 amp service that's already busy with AC, a dryer and a kitchen. Before we install anything, we look at your panel and your usage and recommend one of these:
- Straight install: your panel has room, so we add a dedicated circuit at the right size.
- Smart sizing: a lower-amp circuit or a charger with load management, so your car charges without overloading the house.
- Panel upgrade: if you're also planning a heat pump, ADU or remodel, upgrading now can save doing the work twice. More on panel upgrades.
EV charger circuits require a permit and inspection in South Bay cities.
Getting a quote
The cost mostly depends on how far the charger is from your panel and whether the panel has room. The fastest way to a quote is to text us two photos: your panel with the door open, and the spot where you want the charger.
Questions
EV charger questions
Can my house handle an EV charger?
Many South Bay homes can, but older homes with 100 amp service are often close to their limit already. We check your panel's capacity and your current usage first, then recommend the right setup: a dedicated circuit, a smaller circuit with load management, or a panel upgrade.
What size circuit does a Level 2 charger need?
It depends on the charger and your panel. A Tesla Wall Connector set to its full 48 amps needs a 60 amp circuit, and many universal chargers are similar. Chargers can also be set lower to fit a panel with less room, at a slower charging speed.
Should I get a hardwired charger or a 14-50 outlet?
A hardwired wall charger is usually the cleaner, faster and more weather-resistant option. A NEMA 14-50 outlet works well if you want to use a portable charger or may take it with you when you move. We'll help you pick based on your car and your garage.
How long does an install take?
A straightforward install near the panel is often done in a few hours. Longer runs, outdoor installs, or a panel upgrade take more time, and we'll give you a clear timeline with your quote.
